Marshall v Boss V Line6...

With Boss announcing new Katana & GT1 f/x this side of the market is being flooded... I have just bought the Marshall Code 50 which to me is outstanding. The great review in Guitar interactive by Tom Quayle persuaded me to try one and ended up buying it. Line 6 of course have the Amplifi range and now Boss I really thought modeling amps had passed their sell by date... how wrong could I be!!!

The new Boss GT1 multi-f/x looks neat... anyone else any opinions on modeling amps or new Multi-f/x?

Mark,

I agree this is a great time for guitarists looking for a modelling amp with the recent release of the Boss Katana, Marshall Code, Line 6 Spider V, Yamaha THR100 etc... The quality of the modelling is improving all the time and provides great opportunities for guitarists to experiment with approximations of different amps and effects.

I would currently favour the Katana for its tones and the Spider V for the number of options it provides. The great thing about these amps is that they have moved away needing mobile phone apps to use fully. I'm pleased to see the arrival of modelling amps that don't need to be connected to a computer or phone.
