Andy can you tell us about your ESP LTD guitars please. How do you rate them and why do you play them over the ESP range. Thinking of buying an ESP or ESP LTD

My question: Do you practice every exercise you learn/create in every key? Or do you have a standard key or set of keys you practice?

hey andy how's it going,

the question's I would like to ask is, iv'e been playing for about 2 1/2 years, I've learnt a hell of a lot on your DVDs, and iv'e just bought your six-week shred course ;-) but I still don't understand the aspect of when they say a song is in the key of ! Does that mean that's the first note played at the beginning of the song, for example ";Enter Sandman"; metallica starts on the low E string, so is that song in the key of E ???. Also I can play certain stuff okay to a backing track such as metallica and guns and Roses, including the solo's, but when I play in front of my mates, I make loads of mistakes and get nervous, instead of concentrating on what I'm doing, my mind wanders on what they are thinking or the fact that they are watching, any advice on this?

Thanks.

hello andy ... I'm a big fan of yours and definitely your instructional DVD is helping me on my technique. My question is one having to do with my technique practice time , ill try to be short :

When it comes to structure my time for technique practice time I have the following question:

  • What is the proper time to expend on each exercise in my technique practice session........10 min, 20 min, 30 min for each .... more , less? ... How much do you spend or dedicate for each single exercise?

Thank you Andy thanks for all....big fan here!!

Practice a particular exercise, for example some of the ones you recommend in your dvds for alternate picking, sweep picking or tapping for a whole month if in that month i do not reach my goal tempo is worth or should I quit and move on to another exercise?

Thanks andy....big fan here....

Hi Andy, I love your dvds. My question is: Do you have any advice for using the picking hand. When I play faster tempos I start to tense up and I start to slow down and Im worried if this is due to my technique.

If we imagine that I have half an hour to practice sweep picking or alternate picking or any particular technique of your instructional dvd what is better .....

to dedicate that half-hour devoted to one and only exercise whatever the technique exercise im practicing or spend that half hour to in 2 exercises (the same technique each one) 15 min each?

Thanks Andy ......big fan here....!!!

Hi Andy. I wanted to ask you if you could give any advice on [strong]stretching the left hand[/strong], any exercises or any tips? I really have trouble stretching my hand, I usually get really inacurate and sloppy in any lick that involves big stretches. Thanks in advance.

[strong]I also wanted to let you guys know that you're doing a great job on guitar tuition[/strong],

Thank You,

Andy, I was wondering if you had any suggestions on excercises or practice routines that will help me get cleaner at rapid alternate picking between multiple strings? I love to play thrash, and I always struggle when trying to do fast pedal toning on say the low E, with notes interjected on say the A string. For example, in the Megadeth song ";Holy Wars";, when I try to play the verse riff where you're chugging on E, then playing 5, 6 and 7 on A, then back to chugging on E... I'm noisy, or I hit the wrong string, or I miss the string. I don't have any problem when it's single-string riffing tho. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance!

Also if you dont mind, I was wondering what amp settings you have for you DVD promo for "Learn to Shred in 6 Weeks." It is just such a fat warm tone and I LOVE it.

How much time do you spend preparing for your Learn to Play DVDs? You seem to get the very difficult (technical, shred) ones and do such an amazing job!

Hi Andy,

Could you show us how to utilise the modes to create more melodic solos using techniques you specialise in - string skipping, sweep picking, legato, etc... and info on how you'd practice these modes to highlight chordal tones/notes from a progression with licks/riffs.

Thanks,

Ash :o)
